Heading 1

I was born and raised in Michigan. Graduated with a Bachelor of Biology from Oakland University. Attended St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. Completed preliminary training in surgery at Ascension Providence of Southfield before beginning residency in Emergency Medicine at Ascension Macomb-Oakland. I enjoy procedures and the variety of the emergency department and look forward to broadening my scope of expertise in the program. Outside of the hospital, I love to spend time with my family, travel and do home improvement projects.

Aria Kamarhei, DO

I grew up in Toronto, Canada, and attended medical school in Kansas City, Missouri. I selected this program for my EM training for its high volume of acuity and faculty support. Metro Detroit has a lot to offer, and in my free time I enjoy traveling, hiking, biking, and exploring the restaurant options in Detroit.

Eliezer Laury, MD

I've been a nomad for most of my life, ever since I left home at 13 for high school. I've lived in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, MI, and Israel, never staying in one place for over a year. Along the way, I've met and developed relationships with people from around all around the world. I've even created a family with my amazing wife and two beautiful children on my journeys in life. I spend my free time with my family or running marathons. I'm truly thankful to settle down in Michigan and give my all to become the best Physician I can be, for all my future patients and community.

Michael Purdy-Sachs, MD

I am a proud Detroit  and greater Michigan native. I spent my youth riding horses in the Rochester area and swimming in Lake Huron. I worked as a substitute teacher for two years in the Saint Claire County school district before attending medical school at Sabe University School of Medicine. I chose Emergency Medicine because I knew, from the first moment I entered the ED, that this was where I was meant to be. I have a strong interest in pre-hospital care, rescue and tactical medicine. In my free time I enjoy traveling, adventuring and any sports I can get my hands on.

Blessing Stephen, MD

I'm Blessing Stephen, originally from Akwaibom, Nigeria, and now proud to call Ontario, Canada, my home. In my free time, I love activities that involve being outdoors and I have recently picked up interest in learning new languages. Currently attempting to learn French. My journey in medicine led me to the exhilarating realm of emergency medicine. I was drawn to its dynamic nature, where procedures and cutting-edge technology blend seamlessly to provide rapid care for undifferentiated patients, who need quick decisions and adaptable thinking. Opting for the Ascension Macomb Oakland emergency medicine program was an easy choice for me. The close-knit community among residents and staff resonated with my values, and the program's commitment to holistic, patient-centered care aligned perfectly with my aspirations.
